Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin won ice dance gold at the World Figure Skating Championships in Los Angeles. They delivered a strong and emotional performance of Khachaturian's Spartacus, achieving theirs and absolute Season's Best of 100.85 points. They led the overall standings with 206.30 points, 1.22 points ahead of Americans Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto who claimed the silver. Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada collected the bronze by 0.04 points, but it was Meryl Davis and Charlie White duet that was ranked third in the Free Dance.

It is the first World Championship medal for Oksana and Maxim.

According to the Free dance draw, Oksana and Maxim tomorrow will skate their Spartacus with starting number 23, at 22:30:50 local time (GMT-7), 08:50:15 Moscow time. Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto are scheduled at 22:15:10 and Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir at 22:07:20.

Oksana and Maxim delivered their season's best performance of the Original Dance tonight, scoring 64.68 points. They were ranked second in this segment of the competition, behind Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto, due to a mistake in the combination spin. However they managed to mantain the overall leadership by 0.64 points. We wish them to skate their best in their Spartacus Free Dance tomorrow night.

Oksana and Maxim will skate their Original Dance in warm-up group 5, as they have drawn starting number 24, like they did yesterday for the Compulsory Dance. Their Shostakovich Waltz from Jazz Suite №2 is scheduled at 15:58:15 local time (GMT-7), 01:58:15 Moscow time.

The 2009 Figure Skating World Championships started with compulsory dance competition, Paso Doble. Oksana and Maxim performed an excellent program gaining a lead with their seasons' best score. The second place is for their coach-mates Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto (USA). Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir (CAN) are in the third place.

Oksana and Maxim will skate their Compulsory Dance in warm-up group 5, as they have drawn starting number 24.  Their Paso Doble is scheduled at 15:48:40 local time (GMT-7), or at 01:48:40 Moscow time.
